Smarties Private Tutoring was initially established on the Northern Beaches, Sydney in 2006. Having identified a need within the community to give extra support to children experiencing difficulties at school in English and Mathematics, Gilly tutored from home whilst her twins were infants.
Once they were school-aged, Gilly returned to full time classroom teaching and closed Smarties.
Fifteen years later, and still passionate about helping students with learning challenges to achieve their goals, Gilly has regenerated Smarties Private Tutoring. Her vision remains the same: to support individual students by providing imaginative, engaging and sequential tutoring sessions.
She aims to value and encourage a student’s individual strengths and interests and to help a student set and reflect on learning goals, to promote a fun, positive growth mindset with learning and to inspire a student to feel valued and successful.
As a Primary School teacher, Gilly believes that learning advances more quickly in a stimulating, fun and nurturing environment.
By providing one-to-one teacher-student tuition, Gilly helps children stay engaged and maintain constant attention.
Each session provides appropriate stimulating material offering explicit and sequential teaching, making understanding and success an achievable goal.
